Muslim Silk Road Xian to Kashgar 13 Days
On the Silk Road, there are millions Muslims living in China and other countries. Our Muslim Silk Road offers a special perspective to learn the traditional culture of different Chinese Muslims including Hui, Uyghur, Kazak etc.
Itinerary
Day 1. Arrive in Xi'an
Arrive in Xi'an, met and transferred by our representative to the hotel.

Day 2. Xi'an
The Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses Museum is one of the highlights of the Silk Road. Take a ride for a visit.
In the afternoon, visit Muslim Quarter, particularly the Grand Mosque.
Dinner will be offered in the Muslim Quarter.
-Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses: Discovered in 1974, it is a must-see in Xi'an. Various warriors exhibitd in a original site will amaze you with their different features.

Day 3. Xi'an/Lanzhou by bullet train
In the morning, take a ride on the Old City Wall.
In the afternoon, catch a bullet train to Lanzhou
-Old City Wall: Nearly 14km, build in 6 hundred years ago, the old City Wall of Xi'an is a perfect place to know the long history of China.

Day 4. Lanzhou/Yinchuan by car
Visit the Xiguan Mosque and Yellow river in the morning, and drive to to Yingchuan this afternoon.

Day 5. Yinchuan
Visit the rock carvings. The Helanshan Rock Carvings are located 60km northwest of Yinchuan. The cliff carvings in Mt.Helan were done by the nomadic poeple in north China during Warring States period and Western Xia State. These carvings depict the life, religious activities, wars, herding, and hunting of the minority peoples at that time.
After lunch, head to the Western Xia Tombs, 40km west of Yinchan city. These were the royal tombs of the Western Xia State about 800 year ago. Nine kings and more than 140 royal family members of Xixia State were buired here covering an area of 50 square kilometers. The tombs are in the shape of pyramid, hence its name the Pyramid in China.

Day 6. Yinchuan/Dunhuang
Visit to Nanguan Mosque. The Nanguan Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in North China. The mosque has a high status among the Hui people.
Take overnight train to Dunhuang in the afternoon.

Day 7. Dunhuang
Visit Mingsha Dunes and Crescent Moon Spring in the desert, and Mogao Caves as well.
-Minsha Dunes: It means Singing Sand Dunes, the sand was moved from Taklamankan desert to form the dunes in the history.
-Mogao Caves: Though it was stolen many times in the history, Mogao Caves still has well preserved frescos with colorful paintings that look like finished yesterday.

Day 8. Dunhuang/Turaon by bullet train
Visit Dunhuang Museum, then drive to Liuyuan to catch 3.5-hour bullet train to Turpan.

Day 9. Urumqi/Heavenly Lake/Kashgar
In the morning take a ride to Heavenly lake, enjoying the stunning scenery there.
In the afternoon vist Shaanxi Mosque, then fly to Kashgar.
-Heavenly Lake:Located in the Heavenly Mountain(Tianshan), it has a beautiful mountain view.

Day 10. Kashgar
It is a busy day, you will see the well-known Sunday Bazaar, Animal Market, Apa Hojia Tomb, Idkar Mosque, old town of Kashgar.
-Sunday Bazaar: It was said this is the biggest market in the world, you can purchase all products apart from your parents.
-Idkar Mosque: It is the biggest mosque in Xinjiang. The mosque with its square is for local Uyghurs to pray.
-Apa Hoja Tombs: It is a family cemetery, with stunning blue tiles shining in the sun.

Day 11. Kashgar/Karakul Lake/Kashgar
Catch a coach to the Karakul Lake which is situated by the China-Pakistan friendship highway, with a stunning snow covered mountain view. Visit the yurts of Kyrghyz.
-Karakul Lake: Beautiful mountain lake with altitude nearly 3800 meters, has impressive scenery with the snow-covered mountains.

Day 12. Kashgar/Urumqi/Turpan
Fly to Urumqi in the morning, transferred to Xinjiang Museum to see the mummies, particularly Loulan Beauty and Xiaohe Beauty. Afterwards, take a ride to South Mountain to visit the Kazek yurts. Then take a ride to Turpan.

Day 13. Turpan/Urumqi
Turpan Basin is a key part on the ancient Silk Road, with well preserved ruins and grottos. We will visit Bezklik Grottos, Astana Ancient Tombs, the Ancient City of Jiaohe and Gaochang, Karez Irrigation System, and Sugong Minaret. Also we will go to Tuyugou Mazaar to view the holy tomb for 7 beings.
Return to Urumqi in the afternoon.
-Astana Ancient Tombs: It was a public cemetery 1000 years ago for the citizens of Gaochang Kingdom. You will see dried corpses and tomb paintings.
-Karez Irrigation System: This underground tunnels provide enough water offering to the farmers and their field to support local civilization in the dry and hot oasis.
-Ancient City of Jiaohe: Build on a 30 meter terrace, Jiaohe is a ruin to prove local splendid history.
-Ancient City of Gaochang: It was build in the first century BC. Gaochang has huge city wall and various temples. Unfortunately it was abandoned in the cilvil war of Mongolians.
-Sugong Minaret: Built in 1777, also called Eming Tower, it is a representative of Uyghur architecture.

Transferred to the airport to catch flight heading home.
